In 1957 he removed the legendary Volkswagen Oval Window "moderns" beetles continued riding for some time characteristic

features of its older siblings today gives them a special charm and makes them part coveted by fans.

The beetles were manufactured between July 57 and August 60, which as you know already carrying the

large rear window but are still provided with direction arrows and do not have blinkers (besides USA models),

we could say that they are invisible. The vast majority of them were modified in the late 60s and early 70s,

coupling intermittent front and red rear light changing by the post-62 with intermittent (in some cases even with post-68 pilots!)

As a result of any process, there are a number of these cars spend a lot less visible than they should, while others are falling

into the hands of fans aware that the cars returned to its original appearance. This is the case of Miquel, who already had a

 1300 Beetle but one day by chance found the internet the announcement of the sale of a 57 beetle, 58 model with opening roof.

After a brief telephone negotiations, reached an agreement with the sellers, and departs Navarrra Miquel, where is your treasure.

The Sunroof had 22 years without being used, was covered with blankets and plastic, with some parties affected by the oxide but low

in perfect condition, and the motor home was ultimately was completely full, except for the arrows indicator, which had been "removed"

a long time.

100% GERMAN ORIGIN
It turns out that the car had been since back in the hands of the same family ...

The story begins with car Floristán Casiano, a young theological student who studied in Germany and needs to buy a car to get around.

Without hesitation, decides on a Volkswagen. We are in September 1957 so only a month ago that the beetles have come to have a window

twice the size of the oval, in particular is an attractive model with sunroof that Germanic scampers across the road during the two years

pursues his studies until he returns to his hometown in Enériz (Navarra). Once in Spain, in August 1959, the enrollment sunroof NA

receives 16,783 and was then inserted mandatory patent plate, which has the affiliation of the owner and becomes your everyday car

until it passes into the hands of his brother Alfred to be the family car until 1965 buying a larger vehicle to transport all the offspring:

more space, but mostly amplitude able to have four doors and a proper trunk to load packages. The VW was cute as a second family vehicle

and that for smaller practice with him as is the case of Jose Manuel Floristán (son of Alfred), which upon reaching the age

of majority is used to make practical and presented to him for free to examine driver's license (and who would not?!). Years passed and the

family house Enériz became second home for weekends and summer seasons and the sunroof was parked in back of the garage. In September 2004,

and after much thought to the rest of the family, José Manuel decided that the car that had offered so many dreams, but almost no longer used,

it deserved a careful restoration and a second life in the hands of someone who I would like them

both. So put the car on sale.                                                        

Loaded on a crane the car traveled directly from Navarre Mataró (Barcelona) to enter the VW shop specializing Herbert Kempf where

redid the whole system of checks and he did a complete overhaul until the magical day of launch , turned the ignition and the engine and

roared!! and now we have to pass that beat ITV flawless. The next step was an extensive restoration and search all the original items that

belonged to the sunroof. This Miquel seeking information on the Internet and sought advice from his club, Friends of Volkswagen de Catalunya,

and once made the long list of what I needed instructed the VW shop specializing Campercar that it provide all original spare parts needed

to restore it to its splendor of the old sunroof. Of the plate and painting was commissioned another workshop in Mataró, Serviauto, where

the vehicle was completely disassembled for restoration, is painted with green color Aghave original L240. Once done abroad it was the turn

to the interior trim and sunroof were restored killed in another shop for classic interiors specialist, Resta-Classic.

   50TH ANNIVERSARY 1957-2007

This vehicle will meet tember, no less than 50. Unfortunately, it will display the original owner, Mr. Casiano, since he died last year.

Hither to he had been aware of the progress of the restoration of its former vehicle through the information and photographs sent to

the family Floristán Miquel, who knows the affection which had all its members for the car. Finally, this ancient vehicle Miquel rescued

from the bottom of a garage Enériz had regained its true splendor and had become a real jewel that is the target of all eyes of VW enthusiasts,
